Biography
American baritone Samuel Roth is an emerging artist based in New York City. His focus is on the Italian, French, and Russian repertoire.
His path to opera began in the audience. Attending his first performances at the Metropolitan Opera in 2024, he was drawn in completely — and within a year had moved from the house to the stage.
In 2025 Mr. Roth made his role debut as Baron Douphol in Verdi’s La traviata with Regina Opera, appearing with the company again that season as Schaunard in Puccini’s La bohème and, in 2026, as Le Dancaïre and Morales in Bizet’s Carmen. With Amore Opera he sang the Imperial Commissioner and Official Registrar in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and he has performed in the choruses of Tosca and Pagliacci with Regina Opera. Through the Juilliard Extension program, Mr. Roth performed scenes in the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and as the elder Germont in La traviata.
Originally from Ohio, Mr. Roth holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Ohio Northern University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from The Ohio State University.
